Sunbeams on a glassy sea or glittering ice crystals and swirling snowflakes – the archipelago is an ever-changing experience. All year round. If you want, you can start work already on the boat trip, but don’t forget to enjoy the view!
Regular boat traffic to the southern archipelago leaves from Saltholmen and is part of the Gothenburg public transport system. Line 481 leaves from here to Donsö and Vrångö. You travel using a Västtrafik ticket, which can be purchased in the Västtrafik To Go app. There is around one trip per hour until just after midnight.
Donsö is a car-free island. There is only a limited number of parking spaces at Saltholmen. Thus it’s best to go by tram or bus, as they will take you from central Gothenburg to the ferry. Current timetables are available at vasttrafik.se.
If you don’t want to be tied to ferry routes and departure times, we recommend Börjessons Charterbåtar. The company has two passenger boats, which can pick up at any suitable quay in Gothenburg or Saltholmen and take you straight to the ferry quay on Donsö. The trip from Lindholmen or Stenpiren takes about 45 minutes.
Stay and enjoy the unique archipelago setting. There are several ways to enjoy Donsö and the nearby islands.
